Pasir Gudang Park Cleanup

A cleanup activity was held at Taman Bandara Pasir Gudang on June 6, 2022 with 4 locals from Pasir Gudang. They are Mrs. As from Jacob Douwe Egberts Sdn Bhd and Ms. Diba, Ms.Zek, Ms. Zatul from URC Snack Food Sdn Bhd. Armed with rubber gloves and trash bags, we picked up litter around the lake and nearby. We were surprised about the amount of litter that was found in the park. Although the park looked pristine from afar, we found a lot of plastic bottles, empty food containers, plastic wrappers, paper, cigarette butts, and other waste products.

Pasir Gudang Recreational Park is a major park used by and the local community for relaxing, exercising, doing family activities, and also the location for several international events. The activities at the park started resuming after several series of lockdowns due to COVID-19. We can see many families, friends, and groups enjoying their activities at the park. The park gained its fresh soul with people running and walking without passing unsightly trash along the way.

Every piece of litter intercepted from the park is one less piece of litter that doesn`t end up in the lake, drain or soil. We believe the cleanups are important mitigation tools that can help create an understanding of problem and encourage people to engage in solutions.
